You don't want to leave your employees in the dark.

We all have different reactions to difficult situations. Some people face it head-on and are prone to conflict. If there's a fight to be had, they're having it, and they're having it right now. Other people stick their heads in the sand and pretend that nothing is happening until it's too late. It's best to be somewhere in between, where you can acknowledge a problem is happening, but you don't have an outsized reaction to it. But that's much easier said than done. In a work setting, though, our response to stress is incredibly important. If you're never running into some sort of conflict at work, then you're probably doing something wrong. It's all about the way you handle these tough moments that shows you what kind of worker you are. And when you have multiple people from the same team with different styles, conflict is bound to arise.

But there's a difference between conveniently trying to ignore when problems arise and completely pretending they don't exist. Even in the worst situations, you have to acknowledge that the boat is sinking. How else are you going to get people to help you swim ashore? But it can be incredibly difficult to take accountability when something goes wrong. You might want to pretend you had nothing to do with it so you can recuse yourself from blame.
